I mention this preliminary illness as it has some bearing, as we shall see, on subsequent developments. In 1921, the patient had a fall on her coccyx which shook her considerably, and shortly thereafter she noticed a swelling in the left labium majus. For two years this swelling gradually increased in size. She had practically no pain, only occasional twinges which seemed to radiate into the vagina.
